Golden Temple

I was fortunate enough to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The Golden temple is the holiest Temple for the Sikh religion. It is a sight that you can’t explain to anybody. My mind struggled to wrap around the numbers that the director gave to me. Firstly the Temple is really made of Gold. This is the largest genuine golden structure in the world. They have on average two hundred and fifty thousand people a day, that come and worship at the temple and it even gets busier on Holy occasions. They have free accommodation for a hundred and fifty thousand people

The people come on pilgrimage to this temple as often as they can manage. A prayer made at the Golden temple counts much more than at any other temple. This old man in the image is praying and bathing in the Holy Water that surrounds the Golden temple.

The Sikh religion is well known for the Turbans that they wear. Another staggering fact is that they use 7 metres of material to make the turbans. The Turban has to be folded every day and it’s amazing to see how skilled hands fold the Turban. The dagger also forms part of their religion.
